With a father as successful as T.S. Kaladharan, Chairman of Consolidated Shipping Group, its no wonder Chandrakala (CK) is a force to be reckoned with. The CSS Group is one of the leading integrated freight forwarding solutions provider with substantial man-yearsof experience. Balancing work and family is never easy, but she does it so effortlessly.
With a baby and a full time job as the Operations Manager at CSS, the one thing Chandrakala constantly says is that she is an industry where she is constantly learning. “It’s a field that even in 10 years you may know only a bucket of knowledge with an ocean more to learn”.
Born in Kerala and brought up in Dubai, Chandrakala graduated from Cambridge International School and went on to do her BBA from the University of Wollongong in Dubai after which she did an internship in Singapore for a year then later joined the family business. She has been growing steadily with the firm. “The firm is my future so I’m going with the flow”. On being asked about Dubai, she says, “I love it! It’s home. But if there is one place I could live in besides Dubai, it would be Singapore”.
Chandrakala is extremely close to her father and has learnt a lot from him over the years. “He has always taught me to earn respect. Another thing he always says is that you should enjoy life. Make a celebration out of everything!”.
On a more personal front, she is an avid reader and has recently finished reading the Shiva trilogy by Amish. She is very interested in music and books and claims that she would drop everything if she had the chance to attend a Taylor Swift concert. Her worst habit she claims very sheepishly is that she is a couch potato. Her biggest pet peeve she says is getting her patience tested. “Once I’m Chandrakala With a father as successful as T.S. We asked her where she sees herself 10 years from now and her answer took us by surprise. “I haven’t seen myself so far ahead yet. I’m a now person. I strongly believe in being sincere with your work. If I am sincere with what I do now, then I know I will still be doing my best a decade from now”.
