He has recorded a duet Atrangi Yaari with Amitabh Bachchan for his upcoming film Wazir and has got Shraddha Kapoor to croon a duet with him for Rock On 2. He defended the Khans on their intolerance statements, he raised his voice against the Nirbhaya accused who were set free. He’s the only male UN Goodwill ambassador for women and his campaign MARD has reached out and sensitized men across the world and his nitiative Magic Buzz is working towards getting 300,000 girl children to school. Is there something Farhan Akhtar who is a director, actor, writer, singer, performer, film-maker, producer, dancer doesn’t do?

Manju Ramanan speaks to the wizard of Bollywood on his film Wazir and more…

Wazir shot in Kashmir has me and Mr Amitabh Bachchan who plays a retired chess player who is wheel-chair bound. I play an IPS police officer. His character and mine are bound together by the pain of losing a child. In the film, his character has lost a daughter and my character has lost a younger daughter. Then there is a thriller, mystery element to it. It is brilliantly scripted by Abhijat Joshi and co-produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. I am working with Bejoy Nambiar for the first time and it has been a good experience.

Raees with SRK, we have started shooting and is a fun experience. As for Bangistan, it is a black comedy about two bumbling terrorists on a mission who have no clue of what they are doing. I am also working on Rock On 2, a project with Reema Kagti and co-producing Nithya Mehra’s next film.

The session had Nicole Kidman, Emma Watson, Sania Mirza and the Princess of Thailand to name a few. I wrote the poem a week after the Delhi incident happened and another incident that concerned a 5 year old in Bangalore ,that completely shook me up. The girl was at the cusp of undefending space and I had to write it.

I love entertaining people through cinema. I am fortunate to be given a lot of attentionas a celebrity. But, that is just a part of my life. I belong to society at large and am equally affected by the happenings of the world just like everyone else. My concern is a common concern and I am not isolated. I feel I need to amplify issues, so that more people get sensitized to them. You can find an answer.

One section of society is so busy socializing that there is no connection to the other side of the world. I want to stay connected a social cause usually in the form of poetry or a song. Genetically, there is a leaning towards poetry from my father’s side of the family. As children Zoya and I were constantly exposed to poets, thinkers,
writers, film makers and so, a part of me wants to contribute.

Among the three dares in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, the bull sequence was the scariest. We were petrified when it was shot. It was all real!

Hrithik is the go-to guy for queries related to diet. He is great with expressions and is funny in real life. I wonder why someone hasn’t cast him in a comic role yet.
